WHY A RITUAL
Energy follows attention.
Every morning in Bali begins with a small offering: a palm-leaf tray of flowers, a stick of incense, a short prayer. It takes a minute, and it changes the day.
Your piece works the same way. On its own it is silver, stone or thread. With an intention, it becomes a reminder you carry with you.
The one-minute ritual
Do it the first time you wear your piece, and whenever you need to begin again.
1 · Cleanse
Pass your piece through the smoke of a stick of incense, the way Bali lights dupa with every prayer. Or leave it for a while in morning light.
2 · Hold
Hold it in your palm and take three slow breaths. Feel its weight and temperature.
3 · Speak
Say one sentence of intention, in the present tense: I am grounded. I begin again. I am enough.
4 · Wear
Wear it where you will see it. Each time it catches your eye, come back to the sentence.
PURNAMA · THE FULL MOON
Renew it
on the full moon.
Bali keeps the full moon, Purnama, as a day of prayer, when temples fill and offerings are larger. Many people renew their intention on the full moon too: cleanse the piece again, hold it, and speak a new sentence.
We write the island letter on Purnama, so you will always know when it comes.
Choose your intention
Ten intentions, each rooted in a Balinese idea. Start with the one you need today.
DUPA, NOT SAGE
The smoke Bali uses
is its own.
Bali cleanses with dupa, incense sticks lit at every prayer, and with holy water, tirta. We use sandalwood incense in our rituals. We do not use white sage, which belongs to Native American traditions.
When orders open, we plan to send each piece with an intention card and a small sandalwood incense, so you can begin the ritual the day it arrives.
A NOTE
This is a personal ritual inspired by Balinese practice, not a Balinese Hindu ceremony. Our pieces are not medical or therapeutic products. Notes & sources.
